Basically the bahoruco contest was the last qualifying event of the 09 season to select the team for the ISA world championship in CR. Luckily we were blessed with really fun head high plus waves. Bahoruco is a small fishermen village with a small cobble stone river that floods out right in front of the point which makes it a really cool camp ground. A bunch of competitors opened up their tents and stayed on the beach, while others stayed at hotels in town. It was a contest full of emotions, up and down, since the top 8 competitors were battling out their valuable points for the national ratings. It all came down to the finals between Junior Gomez, Zion Balbuena, Brandon Sanford and Pedro Fernandez. We all put on a great show, making it difficult to determine the winner. Finally, Zion Balbuena took the cake with his vicious backside attack, while Brandon came up right behind him in 2nd, Pedro Fernandez 3rd and Junior Gomez 4th.
